Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision Chief Executive Appointed
The Chair of the Board of Trustees of Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision, Jane Kominik, has today announced the appointment of Rebecca Elvy as Chief Executive of Ngā Taonga.
“On behalf of the Board, I am very pleased to appoint Rebecca Elvy to this important role, which will provide leadership
to New Zealand’s national audio-visual archive,” Jane Kominik said.
Rebecca Elvy has been Acting Chief Executive since 2 March 2015 having been seconded from the Ministry of Education.
She combines senior leadership experience with postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration and Strategic
studies, (Massey University and Victoria University) and has studied Organisation Development at Columbia University.
She has worked in leadership and advisory roles for the Ministry of Education, the State Services Commission, the
Department of Finance and Deregulation (Canberra), The Treasury and the Commerce Commission.
”Ms Elvy has an impressive background of providing leadership to complex projects, developing the confidence of
stakeholders and delivering highly successful outcomes.
At this point there is a need to transform the archive, based on its three foundation collections, into a single,
effective and respected organisation.
Ms Elvy is focused on results, she has excellent relationship skills and this will provide the requisite leadership for
Ngā Taonga at this critical time in its development,” said Ms Kominik.
"Her experience working closely and effectively with a wide range of organisations and stakeholders will serve Ngā
Taonga well, " Ms Kominik said.
Ms Elvy has been appointed for a five year term from 1 May 2015.
Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision, the New Zealand archive of film, television and sound, Ngā Taonga Whitiahua Me Ngā Taonga Korero is an
independent charitable trust funded from government sources. In 2014 film, television and sound combined to form one
organisation and become New Zealand’s premier archive for audio-visual heritage.
