TV3 Announces Innovative Sunday Night News & Current Affairs

TV3 Announces Innovative Sunday Night News & Current Affairs Hour

3News And 3D to Share 6-7pm Timeslot

MediaWorks is moving TV3’s weekly current affairs programme to Sunday nights, as part of an innovative News and Current affairs hour broadcast in the premium 6-7pm timeslot.

From May 24, a 30-minute 6pm 3News bulletin will be followed at 6.30pm by 3D, formerly 3rd Degree.

MediaWorks Group Head of News, Mark Jennings says: "We know that Sunday night is a good place for current affairs. People are increasingly time poor and we believe 30 minutes of News plus 30 minutes of Current Affairs is a winning formula for this popular timeslot.

“This way we can guarantee a pacey, high-quality product that will be appointment viewing.”

Investigative journalism will receive dedicated resource under the sub-brand 3D Investigates, which is supported by the NZ on Air Platinum Fund.

"I am very proud of our investigative journalism, and the 3D Investigates strand will build on our ground-breaking work on the Teina Pora and David Bain cases, and the Fox Glacier crash," says Jennings.

3D is executive-produced by Terence Taylor and presented by Samantha Hayes and Duncan Garner. The weekly programme features stories from some of New Zealand’s top journalists.

Duncan Garner continues to host the Drive show on RadioLIVE, while Samantha Hayes is the co-host of TV3’s upcoming late news programme Newsworthy alongside David Farrier.
