Southern Discoveries’ new Incentive Sales Manager
Sailing in a new direction – Southern Discoveries’ new Conference and Incentive Sales Manager
Queenstown and Milford Sound tourism operator Southern Discoveries has welcomed aboard new Conference and Incentive Sales Manager, Kayleigh Moriarty.
Kayleigh will be working with meetings, incentive and conference groups to help create unique events on Southern Discoveries’ catamaran Spirit of Queenstown and at Mt Nicholas High Country Farm.
After working as a frontline sales consultant with Southern Discoveries in the Queenstown office for 14 months, she has an in-depth knowledge of the many experiences the company has to offer.
Her local experience is coupled with her skills and knowledge honed working in event management in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Spirit of Queenstown has operated exclusive cruises to Mt Nicholas on the western shores of Lake Wakatipu since late 2013. The 26m high-speed catamaran is a bespoke, purpose-built venue for gatherings of up to 120 people.
Mt Nicholas is a working high country farm and an inspiring and versatile venue for corporate events and team building exercises – from orienteering to claybird shooting and even helicopter adventures. Ms Moriarty said everything Mt Nicholas had to offer was ideal for the MICE market and she was looking forward to showcasing the venues and opportunities.
“The company has some wonderful products in Queenstown and Milford, and I see huge potential for growth in this important sector,” she said.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Southern Discoveries in these stunning locations.”
Ms Moriarty takes over from Melinee Kong, who was working for the company on a part-time contract basis, although the role has now expanded to a full-time permanent position.
Southern Discoveries Director of Sales and Marketing Julia Savill said it was timely to grow the role as the company was seeing increasing numbers of conference organisers who were keen to offer groups something different.
“It’s a competitive market and organisers are seeking unique, stand-out locations when selecting a venue,” she said.
“An evening cocktail cruise on the catamaran, set to our stunning alpine backdrop, is certainly very special.
“There’s a superb range of outdoor and indoor team building activities that we can create at Mt Nicholas too.
“Kayleigh’s experience with us means she brings every last bit of operational know-how to the role and a thorough knowledge of the opportunities Southern Discoveries has to offer conference and incentive groups.”
The award-winning company also operates the Queenstown Discovery vessel which provides day and charter cruises for up to 25 people, enabling smaller groups to experience Lake Wakatipu.
