First Future Leaders Committee Selected
The NZKGI Executive Committee is pleased to announce the inaugural Future Leaders Committee:
Shaun Vickers of Ballance Agri-Nutrients—Chair
Rikki James of Cameron Farms —Treasurer
Cody Bent of Trevelyan’s Pack & Cool—Secretary
Mary Black of Zespri International
Campbell Wood of Seeka Kiwifruit Industries
Keiran Harvey of Bay Gold Limited
NZKGI President, Neil Trebilco, said the selection process was very competitive. “The calibre of all applicants was very high, making the decision a very difficult one.”
“However we’re confident we have selected a group of passionate and motivated horticulture people who have very diverse backgrounds and different perspectives – a great combination for a strong, effective committee.
“As part of the Future Leaders Committee, the new members will bring their ideas, passion and knowledge of horticulture to the table to steer the Future Leaders Group into the future.
“Between them they have many years of horticulture experience. Shaun Vickers, the Future Leaders Chairman, has been involved with the industry in many areas including orchard management, education, grower services and postharvest. Shaun’s current role is a Nutritional advisor for Ballance Agri Nutrients specialising in horticulture.
Future Leaders was established in 2013 to develop potential future leaders of the horticulture industry by engaging them through regular learning, networking and social activities.
“The kiwifruit industry especially is expecting enormous growth in the near future, largely due to the successful production of Gold3. Therefore we need to keep developing our future leaders to ensure our industry’s future and growth is in good hands,” says Neil.
NZKGI would like to thank everyone who applied for a position on the Future Leaders Committee.
