February 2015 New Vehicle Registrations March on Unimpeded

Industry Association says “The sales momentum from January
has flowed into February, with registrations of new vehicles
for the month of February, up 8% on February 2014 (738
units), being the strongest since 1984.
Looking at passenger and commercial registrations it was the strongest February on record for new commercial vehicle registrations and the strongest February since 1989 for new passenger vehicles.”
Toyota was the overall market leader for the month of February with 16% market share (1552 units) followed by Ford with 10% (977 units) and Holden just behind also with 10% market share (971 units).
Toyota also remains the market leader for passenger vehicles with 13% market share (905 units), followed by Holden with 11% (765 units) and Hyundai with 10% market share (694 units). The Toyota Corolla was the top selling passenger vehicle for the month of February with 4% share (302 units) followed by the Mazda CX-5 with 3% share (210 units) and the Mazda3 also with 3% market share (206 units).
Toyota was the commercial market leader for the month of February with 23% market share (647 units), followed by Ford with 16% (463 units) and Nissan third with 9% market share (266 units). The Toyota Hilux regained its position as the monthly top selling commercial model for February with 15% market share (427 units) followed by the Ford Ranger with 14% (381 units) and the Nissan Navara with 9% market share (266 units).
For the month of February, the Toyota Hilux was the top selling model with 427 units (4%), followed by the Ford Ranger with 381 units (4%) with the Toyota Corolla relegated to unfamiliar territory as the third top selling model with 302 units (3%).
The sale of sports utility vehicles segment remains dominant, reflecting international trends, with 32% market share for the month of February followed by pick-ups/chassis-cabs with 20% market share and small passenger cars on 15%.
“New vehicle sales for 2015 continue to reflect a strong economy, with year to date sales 10% up (1,877 units) on this time last year.” said Mr Crawford.
