New GM for Harker Underground

Harker Underground Construction strengthens experience and capability

Harker Underground Construction announces the appointment of Rory Bishop as General Manager. Rory has 20 years of civil engineering and management experience. His specialist knowledge and extensive involvement in large-scale tunnelling projects led to significant roles on critical, high profile projects in Europe – in particular, managing the extension of the Rail and Metro Lines to the new Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport.

Rory says he is excited to join a well-established and successful company. “Harker has proven itself and built up a trusted, well-known brand over 35 years by meeting the challenges of technically difficult projects,” he said.

The Harker team has been further strengthened with the appointment of a new National Operations Manager Matt Mules. An MBA-educated engineer with over 10 years’ experience in the construction industry, Matt brings a vast range of international experience to Harker. He has worked on a number of complex, high-profile, global projects of up to NZD$36B total value. Tim Lancaster moves into a new role as Commercial Manager and Mike Harker continues to lead the Bid Team.

“Utilising the knowledge we have gained in New Zealand, combined with the international expertise of our team, we are looking at projects across NZ and also offshore. Our technical expertise offers clients the best combination of methodology, non-priced attributes and price. We add the greatest value to projects through early involvement enabling innovation and cost efficiency” said Rory.
