FanPass Boss Hits the Ground Running
Former Fatso boss Cuan Gray has been appointed general manager of SKY’s newest sports product, FanPass.
The streaming pass gives fans access to their favourite sports online for a fixed fee, with rugby the first code to kick off on Friday, February 13.
Gray has been the head of SKY’s online DVD rental service Fatso for the past 18 months and was business manager for the four years before that. He was also one of Fatso’s original shareholders.
Prior to joining Fatso, Gray consulted to a range of online start-up businesses, including BuildersCrack.co.nz, the popular website that connects tradespeople and homeowners.
SKY CEO John Fellet says Gray has huge experience in helping online businesses grow and those skills, combined with his passion for sport, made him the ideal candidate to head FanPass.
“Cuan will be working with overseas agencies and SKY’s internal sports and technical teams to bring fans the content they want to see online.”
Gray, who takes up his appointment on Monday, 2 February, says he is excited about the potential to build and grow FanPass and has definitely hit the ground running.
“I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of finding something someone wants and then finding ways to service that want. FanPass is fast and furious out of the gates, with rugby lined up first, to be quickly followed by the NRL and Formula One.”
