Good jobs, skilled jobs, well-paid jobs are the key
The EPMU welcomes Andrew Little’s focus on creating real jobs for New Zealanders, as set out in his State of the Nation speech this morning.
“Despite all the promises of a ‘rock star economy’ we know that there just aren’t enough skilled, well-paid jobs out there,” says Bill Newson, EPMU national secretary. “And economic growth for its own sake is pointless if it doesn’t deliver a better life to workers and their families.”
The EPMU endorses Labour’s promise to end zero-hour contracts and restore job security.
“A coherent strategy for creating secure jobs and higher wages is the key to helping New Zealanders get ahead, not the government’s tinkering around the edges to help property developers make even more money.”
