Maserati Celebrates Its Centenary with Record-Breaking New Zealand Sales
Maserati has celebrated its Centenary year with a 400 per cent sales increase in New Zealand compared to 2013, the
largest increase recorded by any car maker in 2014, according to the latest official MIA sales figures.
Maserati’s 2014 sales total of 70 is also greater than the three previous years combined.
Maserati started 2014 in New Zealand with the launch of the all-new Maserati Quattroporte with for the first time a
choice of three different engines in its luxury performance sedan. This enabled Maserati to take the sixth generation
Quattroporte to a wider range of clients compared to previous generations of the Maserati model that is the benchmark
car in the category it created.
The Maserati Ghibli arrived in New Zealand just weeks after the Quattroporte, building on its impetus with an all-new
aggressive sports sedan that launched Maserati into market sectors in which it had not previously competed. The Ghibli
joined with the expanded Quattroporte range to bring new clients to Maserati. In addition to all-new twin turbo V8 and
V6 engines, both the Quattroporte and Ghibli also debuted Turbo Diesel engines in the Maserati line-up, another first
for the marque.
“The new models and the Maserati’s centenary are just part of what made 2014 an extraordinary year for Maserati,” says
Glen Sealey, General Manager of Maserati in Australia and New Zealand. “We have also had to ensure that all the
additional clients we have welcomed to Maserati ownership in 2014 enjoyed the same high levels of customer service as
existing Maserati drivers and this lead to the opening of the new Maserati dedicated dealership, Maserati Auckland.”
“Given the increase in client numbers and our commitment to not just maintaining, but also enhancing customer service,
it became clear that this could not be achieved with the existing shared facility. So we took the decision to provide
Auckland with a dedicated, specialist Maserati facility. This has involved a considerable investment, but I am in no
doubt that the excellent sales result achieved this year is in no small part due to Auckland Maserati and the superb
team who provide the exclusive and dedicated service expected by Maserati clients,” says Mr Sealey.
Maserati has also invested in its Christchurch facilities improving customer service as plans for the city’s new
Maserati dealership are finalized as part of the post-earthquake rebuilding plan.
At the national distributor level, Maserati has appointed additional staff, organized more customer events and taken
Maserati into new marketing areas for the first time. There has been a continuous series of training programmes for
dealership staff held in the distributor’s dedicated training facility in Sydney for all areas of business.
