TUANZ welcomes further clarification by Commerce Commission

TUANZ welcomes further clarification from Commerce Commission

The Commerce Commission's release today of a process paper and their emerging view on backdating around the current FPP process is a welcome clarification.

While the pushing out of the final decision date to September 2015, is not necessarily the best outcome for providing early certainty, TUANZ CEO, Craig Young is pleased that the Commission has heard TUANZ's concerns over the difficulty in responding in a timely manner to what is a complex and detailed draft decision.

"TUANZ has always been concerned to get this process right, and to ensure that all parties can participate fully, then adequate time and the provision of all relevant information is important" Mr Young said.

Mr Young went on to re-commit the organisations commitment to participating fully in the process, and continuing to speak for its members, the ultimate end-users of these services. He stated that the organisation will take time over the Christmas break to fully digest the original papers released in early December along with this latest release.

“Our concern has always been over ensuring a fair and competitive market which is sustainable and continues to provide world class services to New Zealanders at fair prices.”
