Consent Marks New Stage for Ravenswood Village

Media release: 16 December 2014

Consent Marks New Stage for Ravenswood Village

One of North Canterbury’s largest residential communities has reached a new stage in its development.

Subdivision consent has been issued for Stage 1 of the residential section of Ravenswood Village, a comprehensively master-planned community 25 kilometres north of Christchurch. The village will provide over 1500 sections in the rapidly growing region, as well as an extensive commercial hub designed to meet the needs of a growing local population.

Ravenswood Developments Limited general manager Paul Croft says demand for sections in Stage 1 of the development has been strong, with over 50% of Stage 1 sections already sold.

“We are focused on creating a community with broad appeal – offering not only some of Canterbury’s best prices for sections and house and land packages, but also an array of community facilities,” says Paul Croft.

“The response from all areas of the market has so far been fantastic, with first home buyers in particular appreciating the support offered by the Ravenswood team in working through the home-buying process.”

With subdivision consent for Stage 1 now in place, Mr Croft says the local community can expect to see progress on many of the key aspects of Ravenswood.

“What’s fantastic about Ravenswood is that it not only provides an exceptional choice of living options for people looking to move to one of New Zealand’s fastest growing districts.

“It also gives us the chance to provide many of the elements the wider community has needed for some time, like a local supermarket and a wider choice of shopping and hospitality options, as well as some things that will just add so much more to the experience of living locally – such as the community swimming pools.”

The new village plan includes a wide range of amenities, from a heated community swimming pool, kids pool, gymnasium, community lounge, children’s play areas and parks, to riverside walks and barbeque areas.

A show home village, featuring 22 new display homes from many of Canterbury’s leading building companies, will open in 2015.

Ravenswood Retail Centre will feature over 70 shops and services, including a range of large-format retailers, a supermarket and a service station. The village’s commercial centre, which will be established adjacent to the State Highway 1 entrance, will serve a local population of over 12,000 people.

Mr Croft says the project developer, Infinity Investment Group, has extensive experience in building residential communities that become a focus for the wider area, such as Wanaka’s Peninsula Bay, which won the NZ Property Council Award for Best Urban Development in 2013.

“We are really looking forward to adding much more to the local region – including more opportunities for local businesses to develop and local people to work closer to home.

“It’s an exciting time, with a number of new announcements and project milestones coming soon.”
