Crane industry leads the way - Proactive Collaboration in Health & Safety
Crane operators and the public can have confidence that the standards which support the operations of cranes are of a high standard and operate effectively.
WorkSafe statistics show that there have been 11 serious harm investigations for mobile cranes since 2007. The last taking place in 2012. This is a clear indication that the message is getting out to crane operators that safety must be a priority.
Rod Auton CEO of the Crane Association states that “the industry must take responsibility and leadership for the health & safety initiatives.”
The association is promoting the health and safety message, and, developing the Crane Safety Manual further which will be released next year. The association has a proactive collaboration with the regulatory authorities. The industry is leading the way and setting the highest standards in compliance, training and technological advances.
Whenever there is an incident relating to the use of a crane, as there was today in Blenheim, a full investigation is undertaken. The safety of crane operators and the public must always be paramount.
