Allflex acquisition set to help Australasian producers
Allflex, the worldwide market leader in animal identification products, has announced a $250 million dollar acquisition
of livestock monitoring and intelligent milking solutions company, SCR Engineers Ltd.
Based in Israel, SCR Engineers is highly regarded across the globe for its cutting-edge cow-monitoring systems, which
gather data via activity and rumination sensors.
High-tech analysis then converts the data into real-time reports to help monitor individual animals as well as provide
reliable data around herd performance.
While SCR Engineers will continue to operate independently, within the Allflex Group, the acquisition will bring its
sophisticated systems and predictive analytics closer to Australian and New Zealand producers.
Shane McManaway, General Manager of Allflex Australasian says the agreement brings together two leaders in livestock
management with complementary technologies, experience and strengths.
“Adding SCR to Allflex is perhaps the most significant step we've taken to prepare for the future demands on producers
as they strive to meet the needs of feeding a growing world population with limited resources and greater demands for
accountability."
"SCR brings an extensive network of partners who have experience with the on-farm implementation and support of
state-of-the-art monitoring systems. While these systems originally were developed for dairy cow monitoring, we believe
their potential to efficiently monitor activity and illness indicators for the broader livestock market including Sheep
and Cattle is extraordinary. Our team is looking forward to collaborating with SCR specialists to pioneer new ways this
technology can help producers everywhere."
