Fast Track Job Match here again
Fast Track Job Match here again
Whangarei’s second Fast Track Job Match will be held on Monday 8 December 2014, and employers with job vacancies are invited to register.
“This event follows the successful Fast Track Job Match trial on 23 October which placed more than 40 people in paid employment,” said the event’s co-organiser, Whangarei District Councillor, Cherry Hermon.
“The intention is to build on that momentum with another event before Christmas, with the aim of getting more people into work by the New Year.”
Based on a similar event held in Clutha, Whangarei’s Fast Track Job Match is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) and Whangarei District Council (WDC), supported by the Mayor’s Taskforce for Jobs.
Job seekers rotate around the employers and have a brief window of opportunity to sell themselves as candidates for available positions. Employers select the most suitable and then follow up with MSD work brokers to arrange one-on-one interviews.
“The ‘speed job interview’ format proved a quick and easy way to match aptitudes and skill sets with vacancies,” Cr Hermon said.
“The model has been refined to make it more effective for the second round, which we will be held over an entire day rather than the half day of the trial event.”
Employers wanting to participate in the 8 December Fast Track Job Match can register by contacting MSD Community Liaison Advisor, Jodi Hayward at Jodi.Hayward001@msd.govt.nz. They will receive information on the venue, time and format, as well as tips for maximising benefit from the exercise.
“We look forward to working with them again, and to welcoming new employers on board,” Cr Hermon said.
“With their buy-in, a refined format and an increased time frame, this second event will potentially be even more successful than the first.”
