Results Announced for the 2014 Fonterra Elections
Returning Officer Warwick Lampp, of electionz.com Ltd, has declared the final results of the 2014 elections for the Fonterra Board of Directors, Directors’ Remuneration Committee and Shareholders’ Council.
Shareholders voted to re-elect incumbent Directors John Monaghan and David MacLeod. They will be joined by new Director Leonie Guiney.
Leonie Guiney lives and farms near Fairlie where she is Director of four dairy farming companies. Leonie has previous experience as a Consulting Officer, Dairy Production Lecturer and has studied overseas co-operatives in the Netherlands and Ireland. Leonie was the 2014 winner of the low-input Dairy Business of the Year.
Shareholders Murray Holdaway and Philip Wilson were elected unopposed as members of the Directors’ Remuneration Committee.
In the Shareholders’ Council elections, the following Shareholders’ Councillors were elected:
Ward 2 – Central Northland: Penny Smart
Ward 7 – Piako: Malcolm Piggott
Ward 14 – Eastern Bay of Plenty: Wilson James
Ward 22 – Northern Manawatu: Ellen Bartlett
Wilson James is a new Shareholders’ Councillor.
In the eighteen other Shareholders’ Council wards where elections were due, nominees were elected unopposed. The Councillors in those wards are:
Ward 1 - Northern Northland: Terence Brocx
Ward 3 - Southern Northland: Tracey Bryan
Ward 5 - Hauraki / Coromandel: Julie Pirie
Ward 8 - Matamata: Grant Wills
Ward 9 - Western Bay of Plenty: Murray Linton
Ward 13 - Rotorua: Matt Pepper
Ward 15 - Taupo: Phil Butler
Ward 19 - Central Taranaki: Noel Caskey
Ward 25 - Wairarapa: Philip Palmer
Ward 27 - North Canterbury: Shaun Lissington
Ward 28 - Rakaia: Angela Ward
Ward 29 - Ashburton: Charles Whitehead
Ward 30 - South Canterbury: John Gregan
Ward 31 - Waitaki: Greg Kirkwood
Ward 32 - Otago: Ad Bekkers
Ward 33 - Northern Southland: Ivan Lines
Ward 34 - Southern Southland: Emma Hammond
Ward 35 - Western Southland: Vaughan Templeton
All successful candidates will take office at the close of the Annual Meeting on Wednesday, 12 November 2014.
