CORBEL CONSTRUCTION BUILDS THE CAPACITY OF ITS RESIDENTIAL DIVISION WITH THREE NEW SENIOR APPOINTMENTS
Christchurch-based construction company Corbel Construction (Corbel) has expanded the capacity of its residential
building division with three recent senior appointments.

Davis, Senior Project Manager.
The company’s residential division operates in the mid-to-upper end of the residential housing market and has been
heavily involved in earthquake repairs throughout Canterbury. Last year, they won the Master Builders House of the Year
Regional Supreme Award for best renovation along with a number of other awards.
Simon Hemmings has a BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology form the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. He has
experience in urban regeneration and design and construction management throughout the UK. He emigrated to New Zealand
in late 2011 and joins Corbel from MWH Recovery where he was a project manager responsible for rebuild and repairs
following the Canterbury Earthquakes.
Shaun Boldock has a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying from Sheffield Hallam University has managed multi-million dollar
projects involving school extensions, commercial office refurbishment, and the refurbishment of high schools and council

Hugh Davis is a second generation builder with over 30 years’ construction industry experience. After completing a
carpentry apprenticeship in Seattle, Washington USA, Hugh has held a number of interesting roles including working with
the US Federal Emergency Management Association as project manager in the aftermath of hurricane Iniki in Kauai Hawaii,
and building award-winning high-end residential homes in the USA and New Zealand. Immediately prior to joining Corbel,
Hugh was a director of Cook Island-based construction company Island Eyes Limited.
Corbel Construction’s residential division manager Mark Wells said, “The residential division has experienced
considerable growth over the past two years. This year the division will complete projects with a total value of $12.5
million and will contribute 30 percent to the group’s total revenue. Residential construction, and particularly
residential reconstruction, is demanding work requiring close oversight to ensure multiple projects are completed on
time, within budget and to the client’s satisfaction - consistent with Corbel’s Best People, Best Practice, Best Outcome approach to construction.
About Corbel Construction
Established in 2000, Christchurch-based Corbel Construction employs over 85 fulltime permanent staff across three
divisions: Commercial Construction, Residential Building and Joinery Manufacturing.
A private company, Corbel is owned and operated by its founders Craig Jones and Mark Wells.
The company has grown significantly, averaging 25% growth per annum over the past six years, with targeted annual
revenue of $40 million for this financial year.
Corbel therefore has the skills, experience and resources to allow it to undertake a number of projects concurrently.
The Residential division has typically focused on the mid-to-upper end of the residential housing market with the
Commercial division specialising in small-to-medium sized commercial projects. More recently, Corbel has recruited a
number of talented people within the industry and is now able to undertake larger commercial projects and larger
programmes of residential work.
