Time conscious people and businesses take to mobile
servicing
Time conscious people are increasingly turning to mobile mechanics to fix their vehicles in the car park at work, the airport, train station or golf club.
Hometune were early adopters of the concept of making it as easy as possible for their customers, recognising the time conscious trend and starting the business more than 35 years ago, making them the longest serving mobile mechanics in the country.
It recently became a fully-owned subsidiary of Corporate Cabs, which expects the business to continue to grow because of the convenience of having someone come to you, and the increasing demands on people’s time – whether its work or a weekend sports fixture.
“The team are highly qualified and experienced with every make and model of car including European models, they’ve got the latest equipment and they’re definitely competitive on price, so why wouldn’t you?” says chief executive Colin Samson.
“They’re well qualified mechanics, technicians or auto electricians as it is, then we have a continual training programme at our diagnosis and training centre in Mt Eden, so they can keep up the high quality service, as well as up with the latest technology.”
There are currently 12 mobile Hometune vehicles on the road from Warkworth to Pukekohe, for servicing or roadside assistance. The owner operators are mechanics, technicians and auto electricians, so when you ring up you get the expertise you need.
“Our mobile team are available seven days a week and our workshop is open Monday to Saturday so it’s easy for us to work on your vehicle at a time that suits you,” says Mr Samson.
Even though they’ve got
top quality diagnostic tools in the mobile mechanic’s
vans, there’s the added bonus of the fully equipped
workshop and diagnosis centre in Mt Eden if people prefer to
bring their vehicle in. If they live or work close by they
can drop the vehicle in at the workshop and Hometune will
give them a ride back to work or home, and let them know
when the work is completed.
Mr Samson believes one of the
growing areas of the Hometune business will be fleet
servicing, because organisations need not have their
vehicles out of commission – Hometune mechanics can come
to the office, a work site, or home seven days a week.
“People don’t even have to be there if they don’t want to, just leave the keys and we’ll let you know what the go is by phone, text or email, whichever suits best,” he says.
Every job is also covered by Hometune’s five point guarantee, which means that only qualified technicians will work on the vehicle, and that only top quality products will used, the technicians will honestly advise on priorities, will never go ahead with work without the customer’s permission, and above all work is fully guaranteed.
