Finalists for National Sustainable Business Network Awards

Finalists announced for 2014 NZI National Sustainable Business Network Awards
Judges for the 2014 NZI National Sustainable Business Network Awards have announced the line-up of finalists.
CEO of the Sustainable Business Network (SBN) Rachel Brown says that these organisations and individuals are leading the transformation to a more sustainable New Zealand.
“Our awards are all about recognising the tremendous role they play in this transformation,” she says.
“Over the past year we have noted a couple of shifts in the NZ sustainable business landscape: the recognition that system change requires cross-sector collaboration as it can’t take place alone, and the growth of a number of incredibly inspiring purpose-led innovations that are showing enormous potential.
“Both of these trends have been evident in our Awards finalists, who have some inspiring stories to tell. I’m looking forward to celebrating their achievements at our Awards night on 18th November.”
Head Judge Chris Morrison, co-owner of All Good Organics, says, “This year we could see how organisations have listened to what our communities need, and are creating much more positively impactful products or services as a result.
“I was particularly impressed by the number of purpose-led organisations and the impact they will have in shaping our future for the better. It’s a strategic shift that is great to see.”
The Award winners will be announced at a black tie ceremony on Tuesday 18 November at Shed 10 on Auckland’s waterfront. Tickets are available for purchase, with early bird tickets on sale until Wednesday 5 November.
The NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards, which have been running for 12 years, are the pre-eminent and longest-standing sustainability awards in New Zealand. They recognise and celebrate the efforts of businesses, NGOs, government agencies, social enterprises and individuals that are making a real difference to transforming New Zealand’s business landscape.
They focus on four transformation areas that SBN believes encapsulate the future direction of sustainability in New Zealand: Renewables, Mega efficiency, Community and Restorative.
In addition there are awards for Communicating Sustainability, a Sustainability Champion and Energy Management.
The supreme award, NZI Greatest Contribution to a Sustainable New Zealand, will be awarded to an organisation that has performed outstandingly well in all aspects of sustainability. It will be awarded to one of the category winners.
