Teen Ambassadors treat elderly to sandwiches and selfies

LynnMall's Teen Ambassadors treat elderly to an afternoon of sandwiches and selfies!

There’s something to be said for intergenerational socialisation…while selfies are everyday practice for teenagers, much of the older generation is illiterate in cell phone use. Those of the older generation can talk about life in the forties/fifties/sixties with a fondness we can only imagine, however, “like” and “OMG” are often the most common phrases in a teen’s vocabulary.

As part of a school holiday activity hosted by a west-Auckland shopping centre, LynnMall’s Teen Ambassador Search has similar elements to NZ Next Top Model, but is more than skin-deep and is aimed at drawing out local teens with positive attitudes who are honourable, community-minded, reliable, sociable, fashion-conscious, confident and friendly. As part of the search, finalists are took part in an “adopt a granny” afternoon. On Friday 3 October, 2014 the top 35 contestants chose to entertain local elderly who were bussed in from west Auckland rest homes for an afternoon of food, friends and fellowship – something that both generations don’t often get much exposure to.

What is the LynnMall Teen Ambassador Search?

The LynnMall Teen Ambassador Search is aimed at west Auckland girls aged 11 to 14 and 15 to 18, with winners of each category invited to feature in LynnMall’s 2015 advertising campaign and given the opportunity to take part in Vanity Walk’s auspicious modelling school.

LynnMall's top 35 ambassadors took to the catwalk to strut their stuff and is aimed at drawing out teen ambassadors who truly reflect the family values synonymous with the spirited west Auckland region. More than a ‘skin-deep’ competition, Teen Ambassador Search organisers are excited to offer a contest that will celebrate local individuals with positive attitudes who are honourable, community-minded, reliable, sociable, fashion-conscious, confident and friendly.

The boys from Titanium performed at the final event on Saturday 11 October and signed merchandise, where two winners were crowned LynnMall's newest Teen Ambassadors.
