Auckland, New Zealand: October 16, 2014: DHL Express, the world’s leading international express services provider, revealed today that, in a first for the
competition, inaugural winner Dan Gosling, director and part owner of Stolen Girlfriends Club, will return to the
seventh annual DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship as a judge.
Designed to identify the country’s hottest up-and-coming fashion exporters and assist them in achieving international
growth, the scholarship is open to New Zealand designers who have been exporting for less than five years.
Stolen Girlfriends Club was the winner of the competition when it launched back in 2008.
Gosling will join an esteemed panel that includes John Kelly, MAX Fashions CEO, Paul Blomfield, chairman at FINZ and
Megan Wildermoth, fashion and textiles specialist at DHL.
Dan Gosling, Luke Harwood and Marc Moore founded Stolen Girlfriends Club in 2005. The brand is described as having ‘a
youthful rebellious spirit, a healthy sense of humour and the ability to entertain and empower’. Now stocked in over 13
countries around the world, Stolen Girlfriends Club has grown in to one of New Zealand’s most successful fashion
exporters.
“In seven years the scholarship has gone from strength to strength,” says DHL Express NZ Country Manager Tim Baxter.
“It’s so exciting to see our 2008 winner making such a huge impact on the international fashion scene, and we think it’s
fitting to welcome Dan back as a judge this year. Since winning the scholarship, Stolen Girlfriends Club has grown into
a significant player in the international fashion export market.”
The DHL Express Fashion Export Scholarship has established itself as an early identifier of young talent in New Zealand,
with other previous winners such as Lonely Hearts, twenty-seven names and I Love Ugly, as well as Stolen Girlfriends
Club, going on to significant international recognition.
The winner of the scholarship will receive international freight to the value of NZ$10,000, as well as coaching in
freight and logistics from DHL Express.
A second prize of $1500 and third prize of $500 will also be awarded. All three finalists will receive individual export
mentoring and an annual membership subscription from Fashion Industry New Zealand (FINZ).
