Queenstown voted Australasia’s Leading Destination
Queenstown, New Zealand (14 October 2014) - Queenstown has been named Australasia’s Leading Destination at the 2014 World Travel Awards.
The World Travel Awards launched in 1993 to acknowledge and recognise excellence in the world’s travel and tourism industry. The Awards are voted for by tourism professionals including travel agencies, tour and transport companies and tourism organisations in over 160 countries across the globe.
In addition to winning the Australasian category Queenstown has also been nominated for the World’s Leading Destination award in the final round of the 2014 World Travel Awards.
Destination Queenstown CEO Graham Budd was delighted with the Australasian award win and the nomination in the World category saying it was a fantastic international accolade for Queenstown.
“Queenstown has been nominated in the Australasian category for the past four years so it’s very exciting for the region to take out the top spot, especially as we were up against some of Australasia’s most renowned visitor destinations.
“It’s also great to have a shot at winning the World’s Leading Destination title and I encourage fans of the region to vote for Queenstown,” said Mr Budd.
The public can vote for Queenstown in the World’s Leading Destination category up until 26 October and the winner will be announced at the Grand Final Gala in Marrakech, Morocco, on 29 November. To vote for Queenstown in this category visit www.worldtravelawards.com/vote
