NetHui South planning going well

The hotly anticipated 2014 NetHui South is in an advanced stage of planning, however some spots remain open for programme suggestions.

After a hugely successful NetHui in Auckland in July this year, InternetNZ is again working with the Internet community around Canterbury, to bring together all of the brightest and most passionate minds in the country who care about the Internet. NetHui South will be taking part at Unviersity of Canterbury on November 21-22. It will be preceeded by Open Data Day on November 20.

Conversations so far have been about the future and developing communities and the economy. It's not all earthquake recovery - though that is still a big ticket item.

InternetNZ's Community and Collaboration Lead, Ellen Strickland says that with an exciting programme beginning to take shape she's really thrilled to be heading back to the South Island.

"There is such a buzz of community activity in Christchurch and we've had some great suggestions flowing for panels and breakout sessions. Particularly, people seem really interested in rural Internet and education.

"That said, we still have slots open for people to make suggestions on what they want to discuss. We encourage everyone to visit 2014-south.nethui.org.nz and click "contribute".

"NetHui isn't an event that InternetNZ puts on to just provide experts to talk at an audience, it's a collaborative event put on for and by the Internet community of New Zealand," said Ms Strickland.
