New Zealand libraries to learn from Guinness
650 library and information professionals attending the LIANZA Conference will be treated to some insights into one of
the world’s oldest brands from Keynote Eibhlin Roche, Manager of the Guinness Archive, located in Guinness Storehouse,
Home of GUINNESS®, in Dublin, Ireland.
The conference, which runs from Sunday 12 to Wednesday 15 October at SKYCITY Convention Centre in Auckland, will see
delegates reflect on the need for libraries to connect with the past to help shape and develop a flourishing future for
New Zealand - ‘Pou Whakiro – Connect and Thrive’.
As Company Archivist, Roche is responsible for the acquisition, cataloguing, preservation and access to the Guinness
Archive collection; she also curates and is responsible for the content development of new exhibitions within the
Guinness Storehouse Visitor Experience, and works closely with the Guinness Global Marketing teams in the promotion of
the brand’s heritage.
She passionately believes in maximising the heritage of the brand to inform future innovations and commercial
developments for GUINNESS.
Conference Convenor, Library Manager Māori and Pasifika Services at Auckland University, Anahera Morehu says the
Guinness Archive is the only corporate Archive open to the public in Ireland and there is a lot we can learn from this
leading global example of a corporate brand archive.

to archivists, corporate and special librarians, but will be valuable to anyone interested in leveraging the corporate
value of heritage materials”.
The four day library conference programme includes a range of high calibre local and international keynotes including
international futurist Thomas Frey, former International Federation of Library Associations President Dr Ingrid Parent,
information literacy guru Judith Peacock and homegrown keynotes Mai Chen, Damon Salesa, Wiremu Dohertyand Rangimarie
Hunia.
