Power Outage Inquiry

Media Release

7 October 2014

Power Outage Inquiry

Property Council is calling for an independent inquiry into Auckland’s major power outage.

Thousands of Aucklanders were left without power in the last two nights, which saw costs to businesses running into the millions.

Property Council strongly supports the Prime Minister’s call for an inquiry into what caused the outage.

John Key may be right in saying that a more secure network means consumers will have to pay more for power.

This incident reinforces Property Council’s calls for better and increased integration between local and central infrastructure plans.

END.
