Emirates Flies A380 to Tehran, with Manila Flight Next Week
Emirates yesterday celebrated the launch of its fourth daily nonstop passenger service to Tehran with the
landing of a one-off Airbus A380 service.
On the same day, Emirates announced it is taking its flagship A380 to Manila on October 7 to celebrate the airline’s
move to the International Terminal (T3) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport and its commitment to the Philippines.
On-board the A380 flight to Tehran was a VIP delegation from Iran and Dubai, as well as international media. The flight
carried crew from 20 different countries, demonstrating just how Emirates connects people across the globe.
“Iran is one of the most active aviation markets in the world and an integral part of Emirates operations. Air links are
important enablers of trade and tourism and with our fourth daily service, Emirates is helping to contribute to the
economy and meet the increased demand on this busy route – both passenger and cargo,” said Sheikh Majid Al Mualla,
Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations Centre.
All four Emirates daily New Zealand services offer direct connections at Dubai with the airline’s flights to and from
Tehran.
Emirates began flights to the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1990 when Emirates Airline was only five years old. Since then
over 6.6 million passengers have travelled between the two countries.
Emirates currently operates its 53 Airbus A380s to 31 destinations, including Auckland, across its ever expanding global
network and the airline has a further 87 of the double-deckers on order.
Emirates is the only airline offering A380 services all the way from Auckland to London, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam,
Frankfurt, Munich, Manchester, Barcelona and Zurich.
Emirates’ A380 is renowned for the range of innovations it offers to make the journey more comfortable and enjoyable for
passengers travelling in all classes.
The Emirates A380 flying to Manila on October 7 will be the first commercial Airbus A380 flight to land at Ninoy Aquino
International Airport.
