CRV gives farmers greater insight into their herds
As the number of New Zealand farmers using smartphones and tablets increases by the day, CRV Ambreed is giving farmers greater support to manage their herds anytime, anywhere through its advanced mobile application, CRV INSIGHT-Mobile.
CRV Ambreed product manager Henk Huurnink said CRV INSIGHT-Mobile’s point of difference is that it can enable a farmer to manage all of their herd management tasks using one application, taking away the need to download and log into multiple applications. New Zealand farmers are praising it for its ease of use, convenience and for making data management easier.
“We researched our farming clients’ needs and discovered many clients were experiencing problems with maintaining their herd records,” said Mr Huurnink.
“We developed the CRV INSIGHT herd improvement suite to make vital information about the herd more accessible for farmers when they need to make important on-farm decisions.”
West Coast farmer Esther Sullivan said CRV INSIGHT-Mobile provides a faster and more practical way of handling information.
“The main benefit for me is that I have all mating information on hand so I can tell immediately by the calving date who the sire of a calf is, instead of the old system of stickers in notebooks with the cows last recorded mating and due date,” said Ms Sullivan.
“Also, as I do my own AI with Insight-Mobile, I can input all information at the shed as I inseminate. I can also dry off my herd (as a whole, in groups or individually), tag my heifers (or any other animal) and record empty cows in the shed as the vet pregnancy tests.”
Ms Sullivan said if she is out of coverage –
and most of her farm is - all of the information she records
is saved, ready to sync when she’s back on WIFI.
CRV
Ambreed product manager Henk Huurnink said the application
has been in hot demand with CRV’s clients, especially when
farmers need to know which cows are going into calf.
Currently 130 clients are using the application and that
number is quickly growing.
“It’s really great to be able to help our clients manage their herd at a touch of a button and make recording and accessing information just that extra bit easier. Our team is continuously innovating to bring our clients the products and services they need to get on with their job with as much ease and efficiency as possible,” said Mr Huurnink.
