And the Winner is...Nice Cream!
Your favourite purveyors of awesomely delicious dairy-free frozen desserts won top honours at New Zealand’s most
prestigious food awards on Thursday.
Nice Cream by Tommy & James took home the trophy in the FOODBOWL Novel Ingredients category at The NZ Food Awards with their coconut cream
alternative to traditional dairy-based desserts such as ice cream.
The pair received the biggest take-home prize of the night with $10,000 worth of production time and expertise at the
FOODBOWL food innovation hub.
“Winning this award is yet another nod to the growing trend for coconut based products and a bit of kudos for the way
Tommy and I go about the design of our products,” says co-owner James Crow. “And it’s even better to be aligned with the
FOODBOWL, as the benefits from winning time at their facility can mean great developments for an Auckland-based business
like ours.”
The production time will be used to further develop new ranges of products set to hit the shelves later this year.
The FOODBOWL is an Auckland facility hub that enables companies to produce commercial runs of new products using their
state-of-the-art technology and expertise as part of the NZ Food Innovation Network.
