Large Waikato finishing and dairy support farm goes on the market for sale
A substantial finishing and dairy support farm at Whatawhata on the road from Hamilton to Raglan has been placed on the
market for sale.
The 515 hectare farm in five titles features a mixed topography of 90 hectares of flat to gently rolling land, 330
hectares of rolling countryside and medium contoured hills, some steeper hills, and between 25-30 hectares of bush and
wetlands.
The farm currently stocks 570 cattle and 2086 sheep. It is divided into approximately 123 main paddocks and 10 holding
paddocks through a mix of electric and seven-wire fencing, with post and batten fencing on the boundaries.
A full record of the last five years of stocking is available for viewing to potential purchasers, along with the
five-year history of fertiliser input for the same period. Last financial year some 132.8 tonnes of Superten/Sulphur
Gain, DAP S Super, Pasturezeal G2 and Urea fertiliser was
pplied to the farm.
Over the same 2013/14 year, the farm produced 141 bales of hay from its own grass, and brought in an additional 100
bales of hay for feed.
A wide laneway extends through the centre of the farm – with side races on either side. Farm water is pumped over the
property from a stream to five holding tanks then throughgravity to troughs in each paddock.
The property – known as Annandale - is being marketed for sale by tender on October 23 through Bayleys Waikato.
Salesperson Mike Fraser Jones said there were two homes on the property.
Mr Fraser Jones said the main home was a three-bedroom Lockwood-type construction and double garaging. The second
dwelling was a smaller three-bedroom home with an adjoining stable. Water for both homes was bore-fed.

“Building infrastructure on the farm includes a three stand woolshed, near-new sheep yards with a curved three-way
drafting race, a four bay implement shed, hay barn, and a substantial arrangement of cattle yards and pens leading into
a loading facility,” he said.
The soil type on the property was a blend of clay loam mix, volcanic ash and silt loam.
Tenders for the Whatawhata farm close on October 23, with Mr Fraser Jones saying he expected a variety of potential
buyers looking at running the farm either as a dairy support site in conjunction with existing farming operations in the
Waikato, or as an easy-maintenance finishing unit for sheep and beef farms in the South Waikato and King Country
regions.
Mr Fraser Jones said the property could be managed by one person.
