CELEBRATING OUR AWARD-WINNING
SPARKLING WINE
AKARUA VINTAGE BRUT 2010
Raise your glass and join us in a toast as we celebrate Central Otago winery Akarua winning a prestigious international trophy for its sparkling wine Akarua Vintage Brut 2010 - awarded the World Champion New Zealand Sparkling Wine Trophy at The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships (CSWWC), announced on the 4th September 2014.
Having launched their sparkling wine range in early 2012, Akarua is gaining a solid reputation for its quality and style.
“We knew that we had the capabilities and the right climatic conditions to make fantastic sparkling wines and this trophy caps off what has been a fantastic two years for our Akarua methode traditionelle range; with many notable achievements including three trophies that our Non-Vintage wines have won” says Matt Connell – Winemaker; Akarua.
“It is also really heartening to see Central Otago being recognised internationally for another wine style alongside Pinot Noir”, he continues.
This is the second recent NZ Sparkling Wine trophy celebration for Akarua, being awarded the Gow Langsford Gallery Trophy at the Spiegelau International Wine Competition 2014.
The Akarua Vintage Brut 2010 is Akarua’s premier sparkling wine; a selection of the finest base wines from the 2010 harvest, which spends a minimum of three years on yeast in bottle before disgorging. Full of character and complexity, Akarua Vintage Brut 2010 will be your new ‘go to bubbles’ to have ready and chilled in your fridge whatever the occasion.
About the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships
This is a new global wine competition launched by internationally renowned UK specialist writer and author Tom Stevenson and has been created to provide consumers and trade with the definitive annual guide to the very best Champagnes and Sparkling Wines in the World. This year, the competition received over 650 entries from 16 different countries in the first year of judging, with 185 wines winning Gold and Silver medals.
This competition also differentiates itself from others in that it is the first wine competition to be judged exclusively by Champagne and Sparkling wine specialists and the only global competition in which every judge agrees all the medals awarded. The combination of these two unique attributes ensures an unprecedented level of consistency in the medalling process. It also only awards Gold and Silver medals and lesser medals will not be announced.

Stockists: Akarua Wines are available at leading restaurants, Glengarry’s and other fine wine retailers nationwide. Distributed by Hancocks Wines and Spirits. For further information, please visit; www.akarua.com.
