Harcourts Butterfly Ball Raises Funds for Perinatal Research
The Harcourts Foundation has once again joined forces with fundraising group, Butterfly Babies to support the 2014 Harcourts Butterfly Ball, which will be held at the Sofitel Brisbane on Saturday the 20th of September.
Butterfly Babies is a fundraising arm of the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Foundation, focused on raising money and awareness for the internationally recognised Perinatal Research Centre (PRC). The dedicated team of researchers at the centre is focused on understanding and ultimately preventing pregnancy and birth complications for mothers and babies. Their current research is focused on exploring ways to reduce brain injury following premature birth, developing methods to detect seizures in babies and understanding how body systems can effect brain development.
Naming rights sponsor for the event, The Harcourts Foundation, is the charitable arm of Harcourts International Real Estate Group and has raised close to $3,000,000 since its establishment in August 2008. The Harcourts Foundation aims to provide financial support that helps, grows and enriches local communities with all funds raised by dedicated Harcourts team members and clients in the form of fundraising events, auctions, workplace giving, individual donations and ‘off the top’ giving (a percentage calculated from each sales commission).
“The Harcourts Foundation is incredibly excited about supporting Butterfly Babies and the Butterfly Ball,” said Jim Midgley, Chief Executive Officer of Harcourts Queensland.
“We are delighted to be involved in such an amazing evening where we help raise funds to assist with an inspiring group of researchers. It’s a very valuable and worthy cause, and the research conducted is of vital importance to our communities,” Mr Midgley said.
Butterfly Babies consists of community volunteers, fundraising professionals and members of the research team – all who have either had personal experience with premature or seriously ill babies, or people who see the importance of the research and the ability of the research team to make a real difference.
The fundraising group conduct a number of fundraising activities throughout the year, culminating in the annual Butterfly Ball this weekend.
Over the years, the Butterfly Ball has secured a reputation for being one of the most prestigious events on the Brisbane social calendar and to date, has raised over $500,000 for the PRC.
