Samsung to showcase everyday smarter living
Designer home to be built at Wynyard Quarter, amazing experiences to be won
Auckland – September 9, 2014 – On the 4th of October, Samsung Electronics New Zealand will unveil the Home Smart Home project, a waterside concept home that is as innovative as the Samsung home appliances
inside it. The house will be continually redesigned to suit how it’s being used.
“We’ve collaborated with some of New Zealand’s top architects, engineers and designers to build a house that echoes the
Samsung design philosophy and takes into account the constant change of our modern lives,” says Mike Cornwell, Marketing
Director, Samsung Electronics New Zealand.
“The collaboration created a home that can be transformed and configured to make any Kiwi occasion better. Using simple
modular components, the walls, windows, floors and fittings will be rearranged to create completely different spaces for
everything from a bustling cocktail party to a romantic candle-lit dinner.”
Many New Zealanders are familiar with Samsung’s market-leading smartphones and Smart TVs. With the Home Smart Home
project they’ll have the opportunity to experience a premium range of home appliances and see how they fit into Kiwi
lifestyles.
“Our lives move quickly, they’re busy and always changing. People are looking for smart devices that keep pace with
modern living. Smart isn’t just about technology, it’s about making life easier and creating more time to do the things
we love with the people we love. It’s about having a few more minutes to spend with the kids, the chance to share a meal
with friends, or to enjoy a lazy afternoon on the couch.
“This is the philosophy behind Samsung’s product development and the inspiration for Home Smart Home,” says Cornwell.
From September 8th, people can register online at http://www.samsung.com/nz/ to host complimentary events that they can share with family and friends, just as they would in their own homes, all
while being able to use our innovative appliances,” says Cornwell.
The house references modern architectural thinking and innovative engineering. Its clever movable pods can cater to
those wanting to flex their culinary muscles in a designer kitchen, or be reassembled into a destination for a relaxed
movie night with the girls. “Guests can tell us how they want the home positioned to suit the occasion they’ll be
hosting,” says Cornwell.
Samsung’s Home Smart Home will be open to the public from Saturday the 4th of October through to Tuesday the 21st with
events taking place throughout.
“I’d recommend getting in quickly to register as a host,” says Cornwell. “It’s not often that you have the chance to
host a perfectly designed experience with friends and family. We’re looking forward to showing off our state-of-the-art
appliances, our inspiring home and giving Kiwis the chance to enjoy something completely unique.”
