Grow Wellington welcomes new trans-Tasman flights
Regional economic development agency Grow Wellington is welcoming the new Jetstar service from Wellington to Australia announced today.
The airline announced it would start flying three times a week from Wellington to the Gold Coast from December this year.
Grow Wellington’s General Manger for Business Growth, Angela Brownie, says improving Wellington’s connectivity with Australia and the rest of the world is crucial if Wellington’s economy is to grow.
“Australia is Wellington’s largest trading partner. While the flights announced today are aimed largely at the leisure market and will be attractive to Wellingtonians travelling abroad, they will improve options for travel in both directions and lead to opportunities for doing business with Australia,” Ms Brownie says.
Grow Wellington hopes to see increased trans-Tasman flights from Wellington over time which will further increase economic activity and raise the appeal of the region as an attractive destination for Australian visitors.
