Jetstar launches two additional Tasman routes – Wellington and Queenstown to the Gold Coast^
• First Jetstar international services from Wellington
• Only airline to offer Queenstown-Gold Coast flights
• Sale fares from $99* Wellington-Gold Coast and $129* Queenstown-Gold Coast
Jetstar will bring low fares to two additional Tasman routes this year including launching its first international services from Wellington.
The airline today announced it will start flying three times a week between Wellington-Gold Coast from Friday 12 December^ and three times a week Queenstown-Gold Coast from Saturday 13 December^.
Jetstar Head of New Zealand, Grant Kerr, said today’s announcement would provide low fares options on the additional Tasman routes, stimulating travel and tourism in both directions.
“We’ve been operating domestic services to and from Wellington for over five years and we’re delighted today to announce our first international services from the capital.
“It will be the first time in over 10 years that a new airline has launched year-round international services from Wellington and the first time in over five years an airline has offered Wellington-Gold Coast flights.
“We’re confident our combination of low fares and reliability will appeal to travellers throughout the lower half of the North Island who want to take a break on Queensland’s famous-for-fun Gold Coast.
“Equally, we’re sure Gold Coast residents will welcome the chance to fly direct to our vibrant capital city on holiday or to visit friends and relatives.”
Jetstar will also become the only airline on the Queenstown-Gold Coast route when flights begin in December, adding to its regular weekly services to Melbourne and Sydney from the southern resort town.
“With the Queenstown-Gold Coast flights we’ll have a total of 10 weekly Jetstar services year-round between Queenstown and Australia.”
Flights on both Tasman routes will be operated by 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft in a single class. Wellington-Gold Coast services are offered on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and Queenstown-Gold Coast flights on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
To celebrate today’s announcement Jetstar is offering special sale fares from $99 one-way* from Wellington to the Gold Coast and $129* from Queenstown to the Gold Coast. Fares are on sale until midnight tonight unless sold out prior for travel Wellington-Gold Coast from 4 February–25 March 2015 and Queenstown-Gold Coast from 2 February-30 March 2015.
Regular lead-in fares Wellington-Gold Coast start from $179* and Queenstown-Gold Coast from $229* one-way online and are available for sale now at Jetstar.com.
