Christine Spring nominated for Auckland Airport Board
Auckland Airport has announced that its Board has unanimously nominated Christine Spring to stand for election as an
independent non-executive director at its 2014 annual meeting.
Sir Henry van der Heyden, Auckland Airport’s chair, says the nomination is a result of an extensive domestic and
international search.
“Christine is a civil engineer and has approximately 20 years’ experience in aviation infrastructure development and
strategic planning roles in New Zealand, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Asia and the Pacific Islands. During her
career to date Christine’s experience has been focused in strategy, stakeholder management and the planning of
significant capital development projects in the aviation industry. Christine was also an executive of Auckland Airport
before heading overseas to broaden her experience in 2002.
“Christine was most recently the Chief Executive of the Hawke’s Bay Opera House Limited. Her role ceased in May 2014
when the Opera House was closed due to a report received on the facility’s earthquake prone issues.”
Sir Henry says, “Christine’s significant experience in the planning and delivery of airport infrastructure would be of
great benefit to the Board especially as it focuses on the implementation of Auckland Airport’s 30-year vision for the
airport of the future.”
Christine Spring says she is honoured to have been nominated by the Board of Auckland Airport.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to return to Auckland Airport in a governance role. If shareholders elect me at
the annual meeting in October, I will do my very best to help the company grow New Zealand’s travel, trade and tourism.
As a New Zealander I am very proud of our gateway airport and I am excited by the company’s exciting new focus on being
a southern aviation hub, connecting Australasia, Asia and the Americas. In order to achieve this, it will be essential
to efficiently deliver the company’s 30-year infrastructure vision and the Board’s role in governing that process is
crucial,” says Ms Spring.
The Board will recommend to shareholders the appointment of Ms Spring at the company’s annual meeting at 2.00pm on 23
October 2014 at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, Auckland.
