Business Success Celebrated at Awards Event
Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce will be celebrating business excellence by more
than 30 companies at its annual business awards to be held this year at the recently refurbished Shed 6 along
Wellington’s waterfront on Friday 7 November.
Chief Executive Mark Futter says the black tie event will be attended by more than 500 guests and will be a true
celebration of business enterprise in the Hutt Valley.
“Business in the Hutt Valley has been through some tough times in the past few years and the companies short-listed for
the awards have displayed flexibility and a commitment to meeting market demand through innovation and responding to
customer needs,” he says.
“Commercial activity in the Hutt Valley is above average and we see the potential for future growth,” he says.
Last year’s high profile business awards were staged at the Avalon Studios shortly after it was acquired by a group of
Hutt Valley business people.
“Now the studio is fully occupied shooting films and we are very pleased at their success, but it meant we did not have
a local venue for the business awards which was very disappointing to many people,” he says.
“Earthquake strengthening work has meant that council facilities were also not available and the cost of fitting out
existing premises that may have been suitable for a gala dinner evening, was prohibitive.
“Shed 6 has recently undergone a $6.5 million upgrade and is one of the best venues currently available in the region to
host our business awards and acknowledge their prestige,” he says.
“We have already received a huge demand for tables and Shed 6 has the capacity to meet that demand.”
The finalists for the Hutt Valley Chamber Business Excellence Awards are due to be announced in the next week.
