A worker involved in an accident at the Sistema Plastics factory in Penrose this morning is not in a life threatening condition as reported previously.
Sistema General Manager, Drew Muirhead, said a company representative accompanied him to Auckland Hospital. The employee has discomfort in his shoulder and has undergone X-rays to determine what injuries he has sustained. However, he is in a stable and comfortable condition.
The employee was undertaking general maintenance on one of the factories machines at 4am and slipped, falling less than a metre onto the floor.
Mr Muirhead said the Department of Labour inspected the machine immediately following the incident and gave it the all clear at 7am. The machine is now back in production.
