New Zealand Set to Sail into a Busy Cruise Season
New Zealand ports will welcome a flotilla of cruise ships over the coming months, with more than 560 ship visits
scheduled around the nation, according to the peak cruise industry body.
As the popularity of cruise holidays continues to surge, figures compiled by Cruise Lines International Association
(CLIA) Australasia show that its member cruise lines will have 24 ships making a total of 564 calls to New Zealand ports
between October 1, 2014 and April 30, 2015.
Among the fleet of arrivals will be two ships making their maiden visits to New Zealand: Silversea Cruises’ Silver
Discoverer, which will arrive in Auckland on November 21 and Compagnie du Ponant’s L’Austral which will arrive in the
country on January 14, 2015 when she sails into Milford Sound.
Across the country there will be an impressive 16 maiden port visits, with inaugural ports ranging from Auckland and
Wellington through to Auckland Island and Campbell Island.
