Canstar Blue releases Innovation Excellence Awards 2014
Canstar
Blue is delighted to announce the six New Zealand winners of
its inaugural Innovation Excellence Awards.
With the aim of recognising and celebrating the latest and greatest products making their way into homes and businesses across New Zealand, the 2014 awards focussed on appliances and electronic devices launched over the last 18 months.
‘We’ve been blown away by some truly outstanding products,” said Derek Bonnar, Canstar New Zealand, General Manager. “The six New Zealand winners have all demonstrated genuine and often ground-breaking innovation in their respective fields.
“Canstar Blue applauds excellence in products and services on behalf of consumers and we’re confident these six winning products will make a big impact on the New Zealand market.”
Canstar Blue assessed both the degree of innovation and the overall impact the products could have on the New Zealand market. Objective and subjective measures were carefully developed by Canstar Blue researchers to identify key measures of product innovation, to ensure a fair comparison of all products that were eligible for the awards. External industry and consumer specialists joined Canstar Blue’s judging panel in order to ensure that the decisions made were robust and reflect the market conditions. They were Patrick Avenell, managing editor of Appliance Retailer magazine and website, and personal money management expert Michelle House.
Who are the Innovation Excellence Award winners?
The BORA Basic by Bora
The BORA Basic is a cooktop and vapour extractor combined. It includes a glass ceramic induction cooktop, touch control operation with four cooking zones, and a centrally integrated cooktop extractor fan. This eliminates the need for an overhead extractor.
The attachable Lens-Style Camera QX Series by Sony
This is the world's first pro-grade lens and sensor combo that clips to smartphones. It allows the user to shoot breathtaking, DSLR-quality pics and share them instantly.
WiFi Control by Mitsubishi Electric
WiFi Control connects your Mitsubishi Electric High Wall Heat Pump(s) to your smartphone, tablet or online account, allowing you to control each unit on-the-go via an internet connection.
The Opti-myst 3D Electric Fire by Dimplex
Revolutionary ultrasonic technology is used to create a flame and smoke effect. As the mist rises up through the logs, the light reflects against the water molecules creating a convincing illusion of flames and smoke. The result is an appearance so authentic it could be mistaken for a traditional wood-burning fireplace.
The Fidelio HTL9100 by Philips
These are wireless surround sound speakers. The soundbar has two detachable speakers which also enables consumers to have them in different rooms.
The Curved OLED 3D Smart TV by LG
The LG curved OLED TV is not only unconventionally curved, it is also wafer-thin and offers deeper, richer colours and stunning contrasts.
“For the first year of these Innovation Excellence Awards we were delighted with the level of interest and the application we received,” added Mrs Doyle. “We thank all those who took the time to submit applications and we congratulate the winners on their deserved success.”
