LPC saddended by fatality at Lyttelton Container Terminal
Lyttelton Port of Christchurch (LPC) is extremely saddened by today’s tragic fatality that occurred at its Container Terminal.
“All staff at LPC are deeply distressed by what has occurred and our thoughts are with the family and friends at this time,” said Chief Executive Peter Davie.
“This tragic accident deeply affects everyone in our Port community. We are focused on providing support services to the family and colleagues to help wherever possible.”
LPC have suspended Lyttelton Container Terminal operations until 0700 Friday 29 August.
The NZ Police and WorkSafe New Zealand are investigating the accident.
LPC cannot make further comment while investigations are taking place.
