Gull and Birkenhead Transport – A winning partnership

Gull and Birkenhead Transport – A winning partnership

The oldest family owned public transport service on Auckland’s North Shore is partnering up with Gull New Zealand.

Birkenhead Transport (BT) - based in Birkdale - will use Gull Diesel Max to power their fleet of buses which provide reliable and efficient public transport from the North Shore to Auckland City Centre.

Ulrik Olsen - Commercial Manager for Gull New Zealand – says it is sure to be a successful venture. “Birkenhead Transport has similar values and origins to Gull, so it became obvious from the start that it was a good fit.”

According to Mr Olsen, Diesel Max is the perfect fuel for BT to use in their bus fleet. “Diesel Max is a blend of mineral and bio diesel. Of course, the great thing about bio diesel is the environmental impact is less and the engine will run smoother and cleaner,” said Mr Olsen.

Birkenhead Transport Service Manager Mark Jakich is also pleased with the new partnership. “The decision to choose an eco-friendly alternative to fuel our fleet came up about five years ago so we are really delighted it has now come to fruition. Gull is the only oil company which offer the unique blend of mineral and bio diesel, which is ideally suited for our buses,” said Mr Jakich.

“We are all for helping local products and companies that are trying to make a positive impact on both people and our environment. We feel that Gull’s Diesel Max is very good, providing our fleet of vehicles with smooth performance and efficiency. So our relationship with Gull is sure to continue,” said Mr Jakich.
