SKYCITY’s Director of International Sales scoops national tourism award

SKYCITY is today congratulating Dylan Rushbrook, Director of International Sales, who has received the first Young Tourism Export Council Excellence Award.

Dylan has been recognised by the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand as the winner of this inaugural award for his contribution to the development of New Zealand’s tourism industry.

SKYCITY Auckland General Manager, John Mortensen, says the award is a great reflection of Dylan’s contribution to SKYCITY, but also New Zealand tourism as a whole.

“Dylan is a passionate member of our team who works hard to contribute not just to SKYCITY, but to the wider industry through his in-depth knowledge and extensive working relationships, nationally and internationally,” says Mr Mortensen.

“In his two-and-a-half years at SKYCITY, Dylan has developed the international sales side of our business which is truly vital in the competitive hotels industry.”

Dylan says winning the award has been one of the highlights of his 17 years in tourism.

“New Zealand’s tourism sector still has huge opportunities for growth, and there are some great people doing fantastic work. My focus in this position has been understanding foreign markets as much as possible so we can increase international visitor numbers,” says Dylan.

“This is something we do well at SKYCITY and it’s a big contributing factor to our ability to drive rates and occupancies across both SKYCITY and SKYCITY Grand Hotels.”

Dylan was selected out of three finalists and receives a sponsored prize of two weeks professional development in one of Tourism New Zealand’s international offices, return flights and accommodation.
