Mitre 10 thanks its customers and staff who backed the Neurological Foundation
Mitre 10 is thanking its customers and staff after the leading DIY retailer helped the Neurological Foundation kick off
its Annual Appeal campaign to raise money and awareness of brain research in New Zealand to more than $100,000 this year
with around a further $25,000 expected before the appeal closes.
The company, which has backed the Neurological Foundation’s national Annual Appeal for the past 23 years, covers the
main costs of running the appeal so the Foundation can maximise the usable funds from the appeal. Mitre 10 also
distributed donation envelopes throughout its store network.
Every dollar donated during the Neurological Foundation’s Appeal week helps to support world-class brain research
projects in New Zealand. Each year, two grant rounds fund approximately 40 research projects into disorders across the
neurological spectrum.
This year selected Mitre 10 MEGA stores also hosted an in store promotion called My Amazing Brain for children of all
ages to learn about the brain and brain health and to interact with brain scientists. They were also able to take part
in activities including brain quizzes and puzzles, colouring-in and face-painting.
Neurological Foundation Executive Director Max Ritchie said Mitre 10’s support had been pivotal to raising awareness and
much-needed research funding to provide for the future health of New Zealanders.
“The longevity of Mitre 10’s support highlights the commitment of the entire organisation to our work, and we are
privileged to have such an active and community-focused partner,” Mr Ritchie said.
Mitre 10 General Manager Marketing Dave Elliott said supporting the Neurological Foundation was Mitre 10’s way as a
locally owned and operated retailer of giving back to their customers and their communities.
“With one in five New Zealanders affected by neurological disorders, we’re investing in our customers’ healthy futures
and we are thrilled to see so many Kiwis doing the same,” Mr Elliott said.
Further donations can still be made to the Neurological Foundation at www.brain.org.nz.
