Winner of Southern Regional NZIM/Eagle Technology Young Executive of the Year announced
Mike Wilson, Operations Manager for K9 Natural Foods Ltd, was announced on Friday as the winner of the NZIM Southern
region round of the NZIM/Eagle Technology Young Executive of the Year award. He demonstrated a talent for product
development and innovative business practise. Next he will compete for the national title in Auckland on 27 November, as
part of the Deloitte/Management Magazine TOP 200 awards.
K9 Natural Foods Ltd is a Canterbury based company that launched in 2006 and manufactures 100% natural, raw dog food. It
is now an award winning fast-growing company exporting to 19 countries throughout Asia, USA, Canada, Europe, and
Australasia. Mike has an overwhelming sense of purpose a desire to maximise opportunities for consumers to identify the
source of all ingredients in their pet nutrition and for all these ingredients to be produced in New Zealand and
exported abroad.
Mike’s personality and management style demonstrate a humility not always seen in one whose achievements are so notable
(and so early in his career experience). His CEO, Calvin Smith describes him as having the insight of a natural leader
and “leading from the front, 100% solution focussed and always seeking buy-in from his team”.
