Telecom Unleashes Ultra Fibre in Taupo
Telecom, which will change to Spark this week, has announced that is launching Ultra Fibre in Taupo today.
Today’s launch of Ultra Fibre in Taupo, the only remaining area that Telecom did not offer service with, means Telecom is the only internet service provider now available everywhere that currently have a fibre network laid.
Telecom’s GM Product and Service Delivery, Lindsay Cowley, said he was confident that residents, schools and businesses in the Taupo area will be very happy with the experience Telecom’s Ultra Fibre Broadband will give them.
“Customers who’ve made the move to fibre love it because it delivers a better quality experience than they receive on a standard copper line. With the best available consistency of speed to your home, this means a better gaming, TV and video streaming, downloading and uploading experience for users – particularly for families with multiple devices.”
David Havercroft, Telecom Connect Chief Operating Officer says: “Launching in Taupo today means that people right across the country can make the most of the fibre technology and the speeds and consistency it brings them.”
Under the Government-supported UFB rollout, approximately 75 per cent of New Zealanders will have access to ultra fast broadband over fibre. Four companies - Chorus, Enable, Northpower Fibre and Ultrafast Fibre – have each been allocated specific regions to roll out fibre for ultra fast broadband to the home.
There are a further three areas, Feilding, Waiheke Island and Rangiora, which are included in the government’s planned ‘fibre footprint’ but where the Local Fibre Company has not yet built fibre to the street. Mr Havercroft said that Telecom was ready to go live in these areas as soon as the fibre network was available.
Telecom Ultra Fibre customers can choose from simple, competitively-priced, UFB-based products. These start with an entry-level Ultra Fibre Broadband 80GB residential plan from $55 per month, right up to the “Giganaire” plan - offering unlimited broadband from $99 a month when bundled with one of Telecom’s Ultra Mobile plans.
Residents in areas with fibre can sign up for Ultra Fibre online at www.telecom.co.nz/addresschecker or by calling 123.
