With Statistics New Zealand’s latest report showing a five percent increase in fruit and vegetable prices and a 3.6
percent increase in meat, poultry and fish prices for the month of June 2014, Mr Rental decided a six-week Hip Pocket
Hero promotion would be the perfect treat for customers needing the extra boost.
Mr Rental Marketing and Product Manager Grant Peck said the campaign, which will reward customers with $1,000 worth of
groceries each week for six weeks, comes at a great time for New Zealand families currently feeling the squeeze.
“From the start of the year, New Zealand has seen a continual increase in grocery costs, which can be difficult for many
families, and of course, our valued customers,” Mr Peck said.
“Having witnessed yet another increase last month, we decided to give back to our customers and thank them for their
support."

Hip Pocket Hero is open to all New Zealand residents who enter into a new Weekly Rental Agreement with participating Mr
Rental stores from 4 August to 12 September 2014.
