Two Hamilton motels in running for award

Media Release: 24 July 2014
Two Hamilton motels in running for award

Two of the three motel finalists in the running for this year’s AA Traveller Supreme Host of the Year award are situated within a kilometre of each other in Hamilton.

The Astra Motor Lodge and Argent Motor Lodge, both close to Waikato Hospital, and Paihia’s Pioneer Waterfront Apartments have been selected by a panel of judges as finalists for the award, which recognises moteliers who provide guests with exceptional customer service.

AA Traveller National Sales Manager Lynne Graham says in a world of travellers accessing traveller review sites for recommendations on where to stay, providing a high level of customer service has never been so important.

“Hospitality and genuine friendliness does not cost accommodation providers anything but it can be the winning ingredient to attract people to your accommodation over another,” says Ms Graham.

“Each of these finalists has what it takes to win the award so selecting a winner will be difficult. These moteliers understand what it is that their guests appreciate and go that extra step to ensure they feel welcome.”

The winner of the AA Traveller Supreme Host of the Year Award will be announced on Thursday, July 31 at the Motel Association of New Zealand (MANZ) Conference in Taupo.

The judging panel was made up of representatives from the AA and AA Traveller, Qualmark, MANZ andInside Tourism.

AA Traveller supports domestic tourism in New Zealand by publishing and distributing more than three million maps and accommodation guides every year to assist motorists and visitors as they explore the country.
