ARANZ Geo’s CEO awarded Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship
CHRISTCHURCH, 23 July 2014 – Shaun Maloney the Chief Executive of ARANZ Geo, the developer of 3D geological modelling
software Leapfrog®, has been awarded a Prime Minister’s Business Scholarship. Thirteen senior executives and business
owners have been given the opportunity to study at top international institutions through the 2014 scholarship round.
Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce was particularly pleased with the calibre of this year’s applicants and the
range of businesses which applied.
“The successful applicants will gain invaluable knowledge from their studies which will benefit the companies they
return to and help make them more competitive internationally,” Mr Joyce says.
“New Zealand needs more business leaders with a global view. These scholarships will allow our smartest executives to
learn best international practices and develop networks, which in turn will benefit New Zealand businesses as a whole.”
Shaun Maloney says, “It’s a real honour to be a recipient of a Prime Minister’s scholarship alongside such a talented
group of people from some great high growth companies.”
The scholarships were launched in 2010 to allow recipients to study at prestigious international institutions. Mr
Maloney plans to attend Harvard Business School and London Business School undertaking courses on innovation, emerging
markets, strategy for value creation, and global business leadership.
Mr Maloney says, “Over the past few years ARANZ Geo has established a real global footprint. We now sell software to
over 50 countries. I look forward to further expanding my international expertise at Harvard and London Business School.
The world class knowledge and networks will be invaluable to the company as we look to open more new markets.”

Denmark, Canada, Chile, Peru and Colombia. The R and head office is based in Christchurch.
