Ultrafast Fibre CEO to Move on – Ultrafast Fibre in Good Shape
After 3 years at the helm Ultrafast Fibre CEO Maxine Elliott announced today that she is moving on.
Ultrafast Fibre chairman Rodger Fisher today said “Maxine has decided this is an opportune time for her to take up a new
challenge.”
Ms Elliott said having entered the business in 2011 she has achieved her objective of setting up Ultrafast Fibre for a
successful future and it is now time for her to find a new opportunity where she can again make a difference.
“The business is now in a good place for someone to take it forward and move it from a start-up to an operational
business of scale,” Ms Elliott said.
Since Ms Elliott’s appointment Ultrafast Fibre has built its fibre network across more than 100,000 premises, making it
one of the fastest Ultrafast Broadband builds in the country.
Ultrafast Fibre has over 30 retail service providers actively retailing on its network, including Telecom NZ, who
launched services in June 2014.
With roughly 1,000 orders per month Ms Elliott said “The business is now well underway and meeting its targets. The next
stage is to streamline the operations.”
Ms Elliott moved to the Waikato in 2011 to take up the Ultrafast Fibre role following her role as general manager of
Vector’s Fibre network, Vector Communications, in Auckland.
Ultrafast Fibre is a start-up company responsible for owning and operating the fibre optic networks in Hamilton,
Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Tauranga, Tokoroa, Whanganui, New Plymouth and Hawera.
The company will deliver Ultrafast Broadband to 163,000 premises, with $300million of assets (on completion), as part of
the Government Ultrafast Broadband initiative.
Ms Elliott finishes at the end of August and is taking a few months to travel with her family.
