Prices Set to Fall for SH1 Motorists
Auckland, 17 July 2014 – Petrol prices are set to fall in and around Te Kauwhata with the opening of a new unmanned,
drive thru site at Hampton Downs operated by independent family owned fuel retailer Gull New Zealand.
Dave Bodger, General Manager Gull, says with the opening of the great value retailer’s 59th site - located at the corner
of State Highway 1 and Hampton Downs Road – the company is as committed as ever to delivering great prices to Kiwi
motorists.
“Gull will bring a new level of competition to the local fuel market that will benefit residents and travellers alike.
We have a proven record of encouraging competitors to match Gull’s prices. It’s called the Gull Effect and it’s been
independently verified by the AA.
“Over the past few years Gull has saved the communities of Pukekohe and Levin many hundreds of thousands of dollars in
fuel costs brought about by increased competition. We make no apologies for it and believe that if the big brands can

Gull Hampton Downs is an unmanned, drive thru site with four dispensers equipped with three fuel grades (Regular 91,
Gull Force 10 – a high performance 98 Octane fuel – and Low Sulphur Diesel). In addition there are stand-alone
dispensers for high flow diesel and Gull Force Pro (an 85% ethanol blend) used in E85 compatible cars and motor racing
vehicles using the adjacent Hampton Downs Motorsports Park and Meremere Dragway.
Bodger says that Gull Hampton Downs is a convenient and fast alternative for motorists travelling to and from Auckland
on SH1.
“It is accessible in both directions and you won't have to queue or leave your car to pay. That makes for quick
refuelling.”
Gull Hampton Downs is an unmanned site, accepting payment via EFTPOS or PIN operated credit or debit card.
