This year Christchurch is proud to host of the 20th anniversary of the Project Management Institute of New Zealand (PMINZ) Conference. The Conference was last held in Christchurch in 2009, pre earthquake. As its return to the city is significant for a number of reasons, this year’s conference theme is 'soaring to new heights', reflecting not only Christchurch's continuing emergence from the rubble, but also the attitudes and actions of the people of Christchurch. The Conference will be based at The Rydges, Latimer Square with events also being held at The Transitional Cathedral and Wigram Airforce Museum.

This year the committee’s goal is to ensure the delegates benefit not only from attendance to the conference but also gain a sense of Christchurch and how far we have come as a city over the last three years. Around 400 delegates from throughout New Zealand are expected to attend this event from a range of sectors and experiences and so far we're well on track.

One of the major draw cards for conference registration is often the calibre of speakers included in the programme. The PMINZ conference has always delivered outstanding speaker content and this year is no exception. Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel kicks off the programme, formally opening the conference on the 4th of September, followed by a number of highly acclaimed individuals offering a broad range of topics.

Hosted by Christchurch’s own Jim Hopkins, the line-up includes Olympic Gold Medallist Rob Waddell, former NZX chief executive Mark Weldon, professor of project management Rodney Turner, hairyLemon and The IT Team CEO Sue Wilkinson, PMI International Board of Directors Chair Ricardo Triana and Strategic Thinking Facilitator Carole Scholes. All experts in their fields, each speaker brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the event, covering topics such as Change Management, Leadership, Governance and Ethics mixed with personal anecdotes from their respective careers.

This is the project management event of the year, bringing practitioners from a vast range of industries and cites together in one place to celebrate their achievements, learn from their peers and gain valuable insights to further progress their careers. It’s not to be missed!
